 A properly maintained driveway is essential for convenient and safe property access. To resolve this issue, we focused on regrading, improving drainage, and reinforcing the driveway surface.

Our assessment revealed key problem areas:

• Pothole Formation: The existing driveway had multiple deep potholes that collected water, leading to persistent mud and erosion.
• Utility Box Placement: The property’s water utility box was not set to the correct grade, causing further unevenness in the driveway.
• Drainage Issues: Without proper water diversion, rainwater pooled on the driveway instead of being redirected away.

To create a long-lasting and functional driveway, we implemented the following improvements:

• Utility Box Adjustment: We raised the water utility box to match the finished grade, preventing future interference with the driveway surface.
• Regrading for Proper Water Flow: We redistributed native soil to create a suitable base, allowing for the placement of 2 inches of base rock for stability.
• Grade Break Installation: Due to site limitations, we created a grade break approximately two-thirds of the way back. This design directs excess water off the driveway into a natural settling location already present on-site.
• Swale Creation for Drainage Control: We built two swales on either side of the driveway, allowing runoff to be efficiently diverted, preventing standing water and erosion.
• Base Rock Installation: We brought in 10 tons of base rock and graded it carefully, ensuring that the newly created drainage points functioned effectively.

With the potholes eliminated and proper drainage systems in place, the homeowner now has a dry, stable parking area, significantly reducing mud and the risk of tracking dirt and debris into the home.
